Recovering from a botched deal with AbbVie Inc. last year, Irish drugmaker Shire plc said Jan. 12 it would purchase Bedminster, New Jersey-based NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc. for $5.2 billion. Davis Polk & Wardwell, along with Slaughter and May, is representing Shire in the transaction, while Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom is legal counsel to NPS.
Leading Davis Polk's team are corporate partners George Bason Jr. and William Chudd. Also on the team are executive compensation partner Kyoko Takahashi Lin and tax partner Michael Mollerus, counsel Cynthia Akard and Scott Luftglass, and associates David Bauer, Daniel Brass, Natalie Thomas and Faizan Tukdi.
Also advising Shire are Slaughter and May financing partner Mark Dwyer, corporate and commercial partner Martin Hattrell, tax partner Tony Beare and pensions and employment partner Jonathan Fenn. Associates include Victoria Barns-Graham, Alexander Cole, Mace Gorringe and Charles Osborne.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
