At a Friday awards luncheon in Manhattan, Corporate Counsel senior reporter Sue Reisinger won a Jesse H. Neal award in the news category for her article on the General Motors Co. ignition-switch debacle, “The Lawyers Were Here.” The report was a dissection of the actions—and inaction—of the automaker's legal department as the fatal ignition-switch problems came to light.

The award comes a year after Corporate Counsel executive editor David Hechler's award-winning reporting. Hechler garnered several awards for his examination of the disarray at Toyota in a feature article, “Lost in Translation,” following allegations of unintended acceleration and electronic faults in several best-selling automobile models.

Reisinger's award was part of a good showing at the Neals by publications across ALM Media Properties LLC, Corporate Counsel's parent company. Corporate Counsel affiliate The American Lawyer won several awards for articles and reports ranging from the Yukos $50 billion arbitration victory to surveys on the lack of women senior partners in large U.S. law firms. Michael D. Goldhaber, who often appears in Corporate Counsel and on CorpCounsel.com as The Global Lawyer, won for his coverage of global legal affairs.
