Lex Machina, the legal analytics company changing the way many patent attorneys approach their cases, has launched a new platform, giving trademark and copyright attorneys for the first time the same tools that have benefited patent lawyers.

On Thursday, the company unveiled its new platform, providing copyright and trademark lawyers with insights into the behavior of district court judges, opposing parties and opposing counsel.

In a webinar hosted by Lex Machina general counsel Owen Byrd, a demonstration showed how lawyers can use the new platform to manipulate data to determine a judge's average time to trial, for example, or how often and in what circumstances a judge has granted summary judgment. It also showed the average size of damage awards and other factors that might influence case management.
