Ever feel like you would be doing more business more efficiently if it weren't for the growing number of rules to follow and regulatory boxes to check? If the answer is a big YES, you're far from alone.

More than two-thirds of in-house attorneys participating in a new survey from professional services firm Grant Thornton, in conjunction with Corporate Counsel, said the current regulatory environment is making doing business harder. The “2015 Corporate General Counsel Survey,” which includes input from more than 250 in-house counsel at various industries, also included details about how companies are tackling other challenges such as cybersecurity.

Aside from the 69 percent of respondents who said growing regulation has made doing business more difficult, some 39 percent agreed that the need to comply has diverted resources that would otherwise have been used for the business' core competencies. Another 29 percent said they believed the regulatory climate has caused loss of profits for their companies.
