In-house counsel salaries are up, according to a report released Thursday from executive search and consulting firm BarkerGilmore. And yet, similar to the results from last year's version of the same report, roughly 40 percent of the nearly 1,600 in-house counsel respondents expressed some dissatisfaction with their compensation, believing they are paid less than their peers.

The “2017 In-House Counsel Compensation Report” looked at responses from 1,580 in-house counsel throughout the United States, who responded to a 17-question online survey between March and May of this year.

The results reveal that the median annual salary increase rate for all positions across industries was 4.3 percent, up slightly from 4.2 percent in the 2016 report. Tech industry respondents reported the highest median salary increase rate of 4.9 percent, followed closely by professional services with 4.8 percent. The financial and industrial and manufacturing industries experienced the lowest median increase rate, with both coming in at 3.7 percent.
