Blucora Inc. has hired a chief legal officer, effective this week, after the former top lawyer elected not to move with the company from the Greater Seattle area to its new Texas headquarters.

The Irving, Texas-based provider of technology-based financial solutions named Ann Bruder chief legal officer and secretary. She started in her role as legal chief June 19.

“Blucora has two strong businesses in TaxAct and HD Vest that are well-positioned in attractive markets with strong growth potential,” said Bruder in a statement emailed to Corporate Counsel. “The company has been executing incredibly well, and I couldn't be happier to join the Blucora team.”
