Seagate Technology has hired Kate Schuelke as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. She joins the digital content storage company from Altera Corp., where she served as the company's top lawyer for the past 20 years.

“Kate's global experience, deep understanding of the technology industry and excellent legal insights are critical to Seagate's success going forward,” CEO and Chairman Steve Luczo said in a statement. “I'm very pleased she has joined our leadership team and I look forward to the many contributions I know she will make to Seagate.”

In the early 1990s, Schuelke was a Fulbright Scholar lecturer in Warsaw, Poland, on intellectual property law in the United States. Other areas of expertise include corporate governance, litigation, compliance, mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions. In addition to her role as CLO, Schuelke is also responsible for Cupertino, California-based Seagate's global security and government relations teams.
