A former IMAX in-house legal leader has been named the general counsel of New York-based data enterprise and catalog software company Collibra, it was announced Monday.
The company said Michelle Rosen is its new general counsel, stepping in to a position that had been left vacant for quite some time. A representative for the company said that Rosen started at Collibra at the end of July.
Timothy Hirsch had the title head of legal at Collibra until November 2017. According to his Linkedin profile, he left to be the vice president and general counsel of Gwynnie Bee.
Rosen has previously led legal team of the Chinese branch of entertainment technology company IMAX.
Collibra co-founder and CEO Felix Van de Maele said Rosen's legal experience fits the bill for what Collibra needs now as it enters a period of expansion.
“As more and more organizations adopt data governance as a 'system of record' and we continue to expand our market position through larger customer engagements and more significant partnerships, it's imperative that Collibra have strong legal counsel with experience working with global private and publicly-held companies to help guide us through this next phase of hyper growth,” Van de Maele said in the hire announcement.
In her role as general counsel, Rosen will oversee and manage all legal matters for the organization. She will also act as a secretary to the board.
Rosen said that Collibra has had a “stunning record of growth” in the past couple of years.
“Collibra is poised for additional growth in the immediate future and it is an exciting opportunity to be a part of,” Rosen told Corporate Counsel. “Felix, the CEO, is a very inspiring executive.”
Rosen said that in her first few weeks at Collibra she has found that there is a lot of energy in the air as the company works to continue to grow.
According to her Linkedin profile, Rosen has spent most of her legal career in-house. After graduating from Cornell Law School in 2003, Rosen worked as an associate at Shearman & Sterling where she worked on securities cases and corporate finance. She then went on to work as associate general counsel for IMAX and was then made the general counsel of IMAX China. Before beginning work at Collibra, she was the general counsel of Delta Galil USA.
Collibra is a data governance and catalog software company which “helps organizations across the world “gain competitive advantage by maximizing the value of their data across the enterprise.”
