As negotiations to overhaul and rebrand the North American Free Trade Agreement continue to unfold, many stakeholders, including general counsel and trade lawyers who advise them, are hanging back before making any major moves or big statements.

Several GCs were unwilling to speak publicly about the NAFTA talks—one called the situation “extraordinarily sensitive”—which is not exactly surprising considering all the politics and uncertainty swirling around the discussions.
