Templum Inc., a New York-based company focused on developing a new market infrastructure for digital assets, announced on Thursday that former vice president and head of strategy of new markets at the NASDAQ Private Market is its new head of strategy and general counsel.

The company made the announcement that Annemarie Tierney, will be its first GC. She will be responsible for continuing the development and execution of Templum's strategic initiatives and will advise on regulatory issues. A spokesperson for Templum said Tierney started work on Sept. 10.

“Templum presents the perfect opportunity to leverage my business, legal and regulatory experience in the issuance and secondary trading of unregistered securities. I am excited to join Templum's dynamic management team as we help to shape how digital assets are traded as securities,” Tierney said in a statement.

Templum's CEO and co-founder, Chris Pallotta, said he is “thrilled” to begin working with Tierney.

“Annemarie's unique legal and regulatory experience with growth stage and established companies, coupled with her knowledge in utilizing blockchain technology in the digital asset space, make her an ideal fit for Templum,” he said in a statement.

Tierney has spent most of her career working in financial services. After graduating from Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, she began work as an attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the division of corporation finance and later became senior counsel there.

She spent nearly six years as a corporate finance attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom before moving in-house as the assistant general counsel at NYSE Euronext. She has also worked as the general counsel of NYFIX Inc. and SecondMarket Holdings Inc.
