After three years as a financial executive, Anthony Crisci is returning to the in-house legal world. But he may be taking on double duty at his new employer: Generex Biotechnology Corp.
Crisci has been named general manager, chief compliance officer and corporate counsel at the Miramar, Florida-based company.
In his new role, Crisci will oversee NuGenerex's distribution efforts and lead the company in building an “end-to-end solution” for pharmacy and health management services, according to the statement announcing his appointment. He also will advise on company strategy, including mergers and acquisitions, joint venture, development, in- and out-licensing agreements as well as long term supply and distributorship agreements for nationwide pharmacy, laboratory and medical management services, the announcement said.
Crisci, who is a certified public accountant, most recently had been chief financial officer at Global Arena Holding Inc. since early 2015 and prior to that was associate GC at Health Quest. He also served as assistant vice president in the national tax and ERISA practice at consulting firm Aon, was a tax associate at PwC, a staff accountant at Cantor Fitzgerald and spent 11 years providing corporate and financial advice to start-up companies.
Crisci was not immediately available for comment. It was unclear whether he is the company's first-ever top lawyer.
In the statement, Generex's COO Terry Thompson said that, in addition to legal matters, Crisci will oversee business and accounting operations.
“With his experience and extensive background in corporate affairs, Anthony will implement the corporate strategy to build a next-generation life sciences company focused on delivery of end-to-end patient solutions,” Thompson said. “His unwavering focus on building successful healthcare businesses while maintaining strict legal and regulatory compliance will be essential for our ongoing success.”
According to its most recent Form 10-Q filing, Generex was founded in late 1997 and primarily researches and develops drug delivery systems, including its small hand-held aerosol applicator that sprays large-molecule drugs, including insulin, into the mouth.
Earlier this month, Generex Biotechnology Corp.'s subsidiary, NuGenerex Distribution Solutions acquired eight pharmacies and a laboratory from Veneto Holdings in a $30 million deal, according to an Oct. 9 Form 8-K filing.
