A product branding company announced Monday that it has hired an experienced in-house mergers and acquisitions attorney as its new general counsel amid a period of growth for the company.
HALO Branded Solutions, based in Sterling, Ill., said it has hired Nicholas P. Jakubowski as its senior vice president and general counsel. It was not immediately clear whether he is the company's first general counsel or if he is replacing someone. Jakubowski started his role earlier this month. In the role, he oversees all legal issues including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and compliance and regulatory programs.
Calls to the company seeking comment on the hiring were not immediately returned.
In a blog post announcing the hire, HALO's CEO, Marc Simon, said Jakubowski brings a wealth of experience to the team.
“Nick brings a wealth of experience in corporate law and M&A transactions. The complexity of our business has increased. The ability to have on-staff counsel to navigate the statutory and regulatory landscape will be a tremendous added value for our customers, our account executives and our staff. His extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions will also provide our team with additional insight and support as acquisition activity continues to grow.”
Jakubowski said in the same announcement that he is excited to join HALO as its general counsel.
“My background matched HALO's needs extremely well. The energetic and open culture at HALO is exactly what I was interested in finding. I look forward to helping the HALO team grow the business and protect the best interests of HALO and its customers and account executives,” Jakubowski said.
Jakubowski joins HALO during a time of growth. In September, the company acquired the Chamberlin Marketing Group, and in August it acquired brand merchandise company Sunrise Identity.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Jakubowski spent the last eight years as the vice president deputy general counsel of LKQ Corp. He also has worked as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis, where he represented private equity funds and public and private companies. Jakubowski is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School.
