An Ohio-based call center and receivables management company has named a new top lawyer.
Ricardo King has been named chief compliance officer and general counsel at Defiance, Ohio-based Credit Adjustments Inc. In his new role, King will oversee all of the company's legal activities and lead the compliance team, ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations that govern CAI's services, according to a statement announcing his hiring. It was not immediately clear whether King is the company's first-ever GC.
“One of the things that attracted me to this opportunity was the ability to work for an organization that is not only an industry leader in receivables management, but also one that is an active corporate citizen seeking to positively impact all of the communities in which they operate,” King said in the statement.
CAI has a contract with the U.S. Department of Education to engage in delinquent loan collection. Last year, the faith-based corporation which looks to invest in its communities announced that it would partner with a nonprofit integrated health-care system to open a new call center in downtown Toledo, Ohio, that will employ 50 workers from the city's homeless population.
Before joining CAI, King held a variety of both in-house and outside legal positions, including a nearly five-year stint as assistant dean at the University of Toledo College of Law; more than two years as the vice president, GC and chief operating officer at the Toledo Fair Housing Center; and almost a decade as an attorney at insulation, fiberglass and roofing company Owens Corning. Most recently, King was vice president of supply chain management and vice president of philanthropy development at ProMedica, the health-care system that is partnering with CAI to build the new call center in Toledo, according to his LinkedIn profile.
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame Law School, King began his legal career as an associate at Eastman & Smith, where he spent about four years, according to his LinkedIn page.
