Julie Lewis was promoted to general counsel and corporate secretary at Rochester, New York-based Carestream Health.

Previously, Lewis served as deputy GC and chief privacy officer at the medical imaging company. In her new role, she'll be responsible for managing  the company's worldwide legal issues and will be a member of the senior executive leadership team.

During her more than 10 years as deputy GC at Carestream, Lewis was the lead attorney for its medical film and dental businesses, oversaw the company's global litigation proceedings and managed complex commercial transactions and employment law matters, according to a statement announcing her appointment. In 2016, she assumed the top privacy role, working to achieve compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, it added.

Carestream makes medical imaging products such as radiology scanners and X-ray film. It is a former subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Co., which is owned by Toronto-based Onex Corp.

Prior to joining Carestream, Lewis was a partner in the commercial litigation department of Harris Beach in Rochester, according to her LinkedIn profile. Earlier in her career, she was an assistant district attorney in Monroe County New York, prosecuting violent felony cases, the news release said.

Lewis earned her degree from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. Formerly a  longtime resident of Pittsford, New York, she now resides in Atlanta, a suburb of which is home to a Carestream branch, Carestream Dental, according to a 2010 report by Corporate Counsel's  sister publication, the Atlanta-based Daily Report.
