Business Software Creator Announces Hiring of Chief Legal Officer
Apttus, a San Mateo, California, software company that offers a platform for companies to automate and optimize revenue, has announced that a former Kirkland & Ellis corporate partner is its new chief legal officer.

Apttus, a San Mateo, California, software company that offers a platform for companies to automate and optimize revenue, has announced that a former Kirkland & Ellis corporate partner is its new chief legal officer.
Omer Rafatullah.Omer Rafatullah started as the top lawyer at the software company in the beginning of December, according to his LinkedIn profile. It was not immediately clear if he is the company's first CLO or if he replaced someone. An email to a company spokesperson seeking further comment was not returned Monday.
“Apttus is a leading organization with a transformative offering, and I'm thrilled to be joining at such a significant time in its long and innovative history,” Rafatullah said in a news release dated Dec. 12. “Working with Thoma Bravo and the Apttus leadership team is an exciting opportunity for me, and I'm looking forward to playing a major role going forward.”
In October, Thoma Bravo LLC, a private equity investment firm, became the majority investor in Apttus. The financial details of the investment were not made public.
Rafatullah joined Kirkland & Ellis as an associate in 2014 and in 2016 became a partner. Before joining the firm, he was an associate at Baker McKenzie and prior to that was an associate at Dentons. He graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 2009.
“Omer Rafatullah is a proven legal executive and business leader with expertise in business growth strategies, corporate governance and complex services transactions,” Apttus executive chairman David Murphy said in a statement.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
