Michigan-based furniture manufacturer La-Z-Boy announced Tuesday that it has named an experienced general counsel to replace its retiring legal leader.

Stephen Krull was named the company's vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He will manage all of the company's legal matters, including corporate securities, compliance, litigation, intellectual property and patents, mergers and acquisitions, and contracts. Krull is replacing longtime general counsel Rand Tucker, who is retiring after 20 years with the company. Tucker began working with La-Z-Boy in 1999, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Krull began his new job on Monday, according to a company representative.

“I am excited to join La-Z-Boy Incorporated at such a pivotal time in the company's history and within the dynamic furniture environment,” Krull said in the press release. “I look forward to working with both the executive leadership and legal teams to continue to build upon the strong platform the company has established over time and to position it as it embarks upon its next chapter.”

Krull has served as the legal leader at three other companies. He served as general counsel at Miller Diversified Inc., Con-Way Inc. and Owens Corning. He graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Kurt Darrow, the president and CEO of La-Z-Boy, said Krull is an accomplished executive with a proven track record.

“He brings to La-Z-Boy a wealth of experience across a wide spectrum of legal disciplines that will serve the company well as it executes various growth strategies and I look forward to working with him,” Darrow said in the press release. “I would also like to thank Rand Tucker for his dedication and impeccable work ethic throughout his tenure at La-Z-Boy and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”
