A pair of nonprofit advocacy groups have brought on new legal bosses.

March of Dimes has announced that Adrian Mollo will serve as the organization's senior vice president and general counsel, while Allison Wielobob will head up the legal department as GC at the American Retirement Association, effective Jan. 28. Both groups are headquartered in metro Washington, D.C.

Both come most recently from BigLaw—Mollo from Dentons and Wielobob from Eversheds Sutherland. Neither top lawyer could immediately be reached for comment about their moves.

In his new role, Mollo will manage and direct the legal strategy and operations of the March of Dimes, which works to promote the health of mothers and babies. Prior to joining Dentons last year, he was GC at biotechnology firm Osiris Therapeutics Inc. He began his legal career in the Washington office of McKenna Long & Aldridge, where he spent more than 15 years focusing on intellectual property rights and licensing, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, commercial contracts, employment law and litigation.

As a partner at both McKenna and Dentons, Mollo also represented Fortune 500 companies and a variety of domestic and international nonprofit organizations, according to a news release announcing his appointment.

Mollo earned his degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland as counsel in July 2015, Wielobob worked for 10 years as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor, where she worked on Employee Retirement Income Security Act fiduciary issues and many of the agency's major initiatives, including retirement plan fee disclosure and default investment alternatives.

She also served as legislation counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation and as a law clerk at the U.S. Tax Court. She began her legal career as an associate in the Philadelphia office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

A graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law, Wielobob also earned an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, according to her LinkedIn profile. At the American Retirement Association, she succeeds Craig Hoffman, who is leaving the group after more than a decade as GC for the San Francisco-based ERISA and employee benefits firm Trucker Huss.

In addition to Wielobob, American Retirement Association named a new chief government affairs officer—part of a revamp of its leadership team as “retirement issues loom large in the 116th Congress,” according to a statement announcing their hires.

It was not immediately clear whom Mollo is succeeding or whether he is the March of Dimes' first GC.
