A former in-house attorney at Capital One has been made a partner at Baker & Hostetler's Washington, D.C., office.

Eulonda Skyles began working at the firm in its privacy and data protection practice group earlier this month, according to her LinkedIn profile. In her role she will give advice on privacy matters to technology companies and financial institutions.

“I'm thrilled to join the esteemed privacy and data protection team at BakerHostetler,” Skyles said in the news release. “I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with the team and using our combined capabilities to shape the way leading-edge technology and financial institutions adapt and respond to today's privacy landscape.”

Skyles previously worked as the assistant general counsel of privacy and data security and the director and assistant general counsel of intellectual property litigation at Capital One. She worked at Capital One from 2014 to the beginning of this month.

Her other in-house positions include being the head of litigation and risk management at SafeNet, interim senior counsel at Hilton Worldwide, and litigation counsel at Yahoo Inc.

She also had been counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and an intellectual property associate at Fenwick & West. Once a paralegal in the U.S. Department of Justice, Skyles graduated from Stanford Law School in 1998.

“BakerHostetler's global platform allows me to take the skills and knowledge I've developed as an in-house attorney and apply it to a broader set of clients in new and creative ways. I'm excited to expand my financial services privacy niche to serve our fintech and technology clients,” Skyles said in an email to Law.com.

Theodore Kobus, the leader of the firm's privacy and data protection team, said that Skyles' experience will be welcome to the team.

“Our clients demand boutique-style service along with a broad and knowledgeable team that can handle anything thrown at them,” Kobus said. “Eulonda's extensive experience working in Silicon Valley and at Capital One increases our ability to provide for exactly that need, particularly with technology and financial services clients.”
