Cleaning product provider Tennant Co. has named a new top lawyer.

The Golden Valley, Minnesota-based company announced Mary Talbott as its senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in a press release Friday. She'll start her new role on Jan. 28 after relocating from Kentucky to Minnesota.

“Mary brings the legal expertise and business acumen to round out and complement Tennant Company's senior executive leadership team,” Chris Killingstad, the president and CEO of Tennant, said in a press release. “This is an exciting time for Tennant as we integrate our global and regional acquisitions, claim an industry leading position with robotic cleaning machines, and chart our course as a $1 billion-plus company.”

Talbott joins Tennant from General Cable Corp. She served as the Highland Heights, Kentucky-based company's president, assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for two years. In that role, she worked on corporate transactions, executive compensation, securities and corporate governance and managed the legal budget and a team of eight, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Prior to General Cable, Talbott spent a year as vice president of law at Macy's Inc. She oversaw corporate and securities legal matters and mergers and acquisitions. Talbott also held in-house leadership roles at the E.W. Scripps Co., where she spent a decade, and Cincinnati Bell.

“Mary's proven track record in corporate law and global business will be an important asset to Tennant Company as we continue to enhance and grow our reputation as the cleaning industry leader,” Killingstad said.

Talbott started her legal career as a litigator at Schletker Hornbeck & Moore before moving to Greenebaum Doll & McDonald. She holds a J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
