ANGI Homeservices, the Golden, Colorado-based home services marketplace, has appointed its first chief legal officer.
Former Angie's List chief legal officer Shannon Shaw was made the first top lawyer of ANGI Homeservices. Shaw began her role Monday, according to the press release announcing her appointment. She is responsible for overseeing the legal, compliance and human resources functions of Angie's List, HomeAdvisor and Handy. Shaw will report directly to ANGI Homeservices CEO Brandon Ridenour.
Shaw said right now she wants to find synergy within the legal department by focusing on individual expertise.
“This is a really strong team and I'm looking forward to working with them and creating a well-oiled legal department,” she said in an interview Thursday.
Shaw was most recently the chief legal officer and corporate secretary of Angie's List. She joined the company in October 2011 during its initial public offering. According to her LinkedIn profile, she left her role at Angie's List last April. After leaving Angie's List, she worked as chief counsel of the Americas for Dormakaba Inc., a Swiss security solutions company. She graduated from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 2003.
“I loved my time working at Angie's List,” Shaw said. She added she “jumped at the opportunity” upon learning about the top lawyer opening at ANGI Homeservices.
Ridenour said he is excited to have Shaw leading the legal department.
“With our success and strong performance over the past year, it is the perfect time for someone with Shannon's skills and leadership to join the ANGI Homeservices team,” Ridenour said in the press release. “Shannon brings immense experience with public company reporting, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions—all of which are extremely valuable as we continue to grow.”
The company filled another executive position earlier this month with naming Jamie Cohen as chief financial officer to replace Glenn Schiffman, who also holds the same position for parent company IAC. IAC purchased Angie's List in 2017 and, with the purchase of Home Advisor, created ANGI Homeservices.
ANGI Homeservices' combined marketplace has garnered over 15 million reviews in the past 20 years. The company lets homeowners research and review home service providers with operations in eight countries.
