Three former prosecutors have been brought in house to help direct a New York-based compliance, investigations, monitoring and security consulting company.
Guidepost Solutions LLC announced the hiring Tuesday. Daniel Brownell and Dennis Walsh join the company as senior managing directors and Elan Parra as managing director. Walsh and Parra began their roles in March and Brownell began earlier this month.
“Daniel, Dennis, and Elan's many years of experience in both the public and private sectors will be a tremendous asset for our clients,” Julie Myers Wood, Guidepost Solutions' CEO, said in the press release. “They bring a collective wealth of knowledge focused on investigations and compliance matters that will complement and bolster our service offerings.”
All three men were hired to work on the monitoring team, which is ensuring that the New York City Housing Authority satisfies conditions of an agreement it made with the Attorney General for the Southern District of New York to correct poor housing conditions endured by residents. Guidepost's chairman, Bart M. Schwartz, was appointed the federal monitor of the housing agency in February.
In January, the agency agreed to improve housing conditions for low-income residents. The improvements the organization needs to make include remedying lead paint hazards, mold growth, pest infestations, inadequate heating and elevator services.
A spokesperson for Guidepost said Brownell, Walsh and Parra were not available for comment Tuesday.
Prior to joining Guidepost, Parra worked as a managing director at consulting firm Lemire LLC in New York. He also worked as the director in the New York City Mayor's Office of Special Enforcement and as senior counsel in the special federal litigation division of the New York City Law Department. Parra graduated from the Albany Law School of Union University in 2005.
Brownell previously served as the rackets bureau chief in the New York County District Attorney's Office. He has also worked as commissioner with the New York City Business Integrity Commission. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law.
Walsh previously worked as assistant deputy attorney general with the New York State Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force. He has also served as special assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Guidepost conducts global investigations and offers compliance and monitoring, security and monitoring and technological consulting across a variety of industries.
