A cannabis information resource company based in Seattle announced Tuesday the hiring of a general counsel who previously served as the top lawyer of Getty Images.

Leafly has hired Yoko Miyashita as the company's first general counsel. She began her role in May.

Before coming to Leafly, she worked in-house at Getty Images from 2005 to this year where she served as director of corporate counsel, deputy general counsel and general counsel. She has also worked as an associate at Perkins Coie. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 2001.

In an emailed statement to Corporate Counsel, Miyashita said Leafly is a trusted source in the cannabis industry.

"This strong foundation built on compliance and trust sets Leafly apart and lends credibility and confidence to Leafly's ambitions in the cannabis space. I'm excited to bring my many years of leadership experience at a respected global brand into this quickly evolving and fascinating space," Miyashita said.

The company also announced Tuesday that Tracie Wurlitzer was named vice president of human resources and Laura Morarity as president of corporate affairs.

Leafly's CEO, Tim Leslie, welcomed the new hires and said they will help the company grow.

"The steps we take today at Leafly will shape the future of the industry, and we are building a team ready to meet that opportunity," Leslie said in the press release.

Leafly serves as a resource for consumers to research the right cannabis products for them. The company has 10 million active monthly users and 1.4 million user-generated strain, product and dispensary reviews. The company plans on doubling its number of employees from 150 to 300 this year.
