The chief legal officer of the American branch of Heineken has left her role as the company's top lawyer.

Julie Kinch's email sent back an automatic response indicating she was no longer with the company. As of Tuesday morning, the company's website still had her listed as the chief legal officer. Her LinkedIn profile has not been updated to reflect that she is no longer working at Heineken USA.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed Tuesday that Kinch made the decision to leave. He said her last day was June 28.

“Julie's legacy at HUSA is far reaching, as she's sat on the Management Team throughout her tenure, established a Legal function of true business partners, helped to oversee many changes within the organization and has been a strong advocate of the representation of women and their voices at HEINEKEN USA, of which she and we are very proud,” the spokesperson said.

Kinch could not be reached for comment Tuesday. The company has not announced a temporary or permanent replacement.

Kinch joined the Dutch beer company in 1998 as its first American general counsel. In a previous interview with Corporate Counsel she recalled experiencing “tons of trepidation” when she was tasked with building the legal department in the United States. She said when she started the legal department's focus was intellectual property and advertising and marketing. Though more recently the legal department was focused on discovering how it used data.

“The access that we have to data and how we utilize that data opened up a whole world of regulation for us that typically you wouldn't expect a beer company to have to deal with,” Kinch said of her job in the 2018 interview.

In 2006, she was made senior vice president and chief legal officer of Heineken USA.

Before joining Heineken USA, Kinch worked as the vice president and general counsel of liquor company Remy Amerique Inc. She has also worked as a senior associate at White & Case. She graduated from the Boston College Law School in 1987.
