A fast-growing South Florida health care company has hired its first general counsel.

Marc Auerbach will also serve as chief legal officer at Miami-based Genuine Health Group, the company announced Thursday. Auerbach joins the business, which was formed in 2016, from Cozen O’Connor, where he was a shareholder specializing in health care.

In his new role, Auerbach will assist Genuine Health with transactions related to physician engagements and home health care, as well as the complex arrangements Genuine Health is forging with managed care organizations and the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, according to the statement announcing his hire. Genuine Health leads physicians through the industry’s transition to value-based care.

“My plans for the department are to streamline and standardize processes where appropriate, and to use my experience with physicians, managed care organizations, and home healthcare entities to ensure we address the needs of our partners,” Auerbach said in an email. “The industry is moving to a more integrated health care delivery system, and my aim is to develop a legally compliant infrastructure that facilitates the evolving nature of health care, while incorporating new technologies to support value-based care.”

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Auerbach was a member of McDonald Hopkins and a health care and general corporate partner at K&L Gates for more than 15 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“I joined Genuine at this time because of its progressive approach to health care and the focus on integrated and value-based care. As Genuine is immersed in its growth phase, I hope to contribute to its development of next-generation, value-based health care delivery systems,” Auerbach said. “Finally, Genuine’s stated goal of delivery of care with competence and compassion to create superior medical results—while producing cost efficiencies—aligns with my personal views on the future of health care.”

He earned his degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law.
