There’s a memorable scene in the 1973 movie, “The Paper Chase” … A formidable, haughty Harvard law professor, played by John Houseman, admonishes his newest class of first-year students to look to their left and then look to their right: he then suggests words to the effect of  “one of you won’t be here the end of the term.”
