Englewood, Colorado-based Liberty Media Corp. announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Tuesday that a longtime partner at Baker Botts has been made its new chief legal officer.

Renee Wilm's first day as Liberty Media's chief legal officer was Monday, according to the SEC filing. She replaces Rich Baer who served as the chief legal officer at Liberty Media since 2013. Baer left the company this week to become the chief legal officer at Airbnb Inc. as the company prepares to go public. Baer had also served as Liberty Media's chief administrative officer since July.

Wilm could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Wilm has spent her entire career at Baker Botts, according to her LinkedIn profile. She graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1999 and then began working as an associate at the firm in New York the same year. She was made senior partner at the firm's New York office in 2017.

In August, Baer told Corporate Counsel that Baker Botts serves as the company's primary law firm and does the majority of work for the four-person legal department.

John Martin, managing partner at Baker Botts in Palo Alto, California, said in a statement that Liberty Media could not have made a better choice to fill the general counsel role.

"We share Renee's excitement for this senior in-house opportunity at our long-standing client, and look forward to maintaining our close relationship with Renee and Liberty Media for many years to come," Martin said.

Liberty Media owns interests in the Liberty SiriusXM Group, the Braves Group and the Formula One Group.
