The general counsel of the Carnegie, Pennsylvania-based Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp. has left her position as the company reduces its workforce.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Maria Trainor was let go from her position as vice president, general counsel and secretary "as a result of a reduction in force." She will receive a severance package, however, the details of which were not outlined in the filing. It is not clear if someone else will be stepping up to the role of general counsel for the company.

Spokespeople for the company were not available Wednesday to further discuss Trainor's departure. Trainor could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

From 2001 to 2015, Trainor worked at K&L Gates and eventually became a partner at the firm's Pittsburgh office. At K&L Gates, she worked in the corporate practice group and focused on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions. She graduated from The University of Tulsa College of Law in 2000.

Trainor joined Ampco-Pittsburgh in June 2015 and was responsible for all legal matters in North America, Europe and Asia.

Ampco-Pittsburgh has recently reported losses due to declining sales in forged engineer products to the oil and gas industry. In a filing earlier this month, the company reported that losses from continuing operations were $1.3 million. The company employs approximately 1,300 people.
