Warner Music Group Corp. on Tuesday named Jon Glass as senior vice president and head of its digital legal affairs.

Glass, who will report to Warner general counsel Paul Robinson, was not immediately available for comment. But in a statement he said, "It's an exciting time to be in this business, as new technology is constantly emerging and new opportunities for consumers to experience our music are expanding."

In the same statement, Robinson said, "Jon is the kind of person you want on your side of the negotiating table. He's a savvy and level-headed deal-maker with a wealth of experience in all things digital. He sees the big picture and also the details."

The general counsel added, "I've watched Jon lead the charge on many of our most strategic and cutting-edge deals, and I know he'll make a great leader as we … explore fresh opportunities for our artists and labels."

New York-based Warner offers recorded music under various labels, provides artist and label services such as marketing and distribution, and publishes music for which it holds 1 million copyrights, according to its website.

Glass joined Warner in 2010 as associate counsel for digital legal affairs. Before joining the company, he was director of digital business and legal affairs for Sony Music Entertainment.

From 2001 to 2008, Glass was in private practice, including with Seyfarth Shaw and then Morrison & Foerster. He received his law degree from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

At Warner, Glass replaces Ron Wilcox, who is retiring after a decade at the company. Warner announced in June that Wilcox would leave at the end of the year.

Robinson's statement said, "As Ron passes the torch, we wish him well. His counsel and expertise over the past 10 years have been invaluable."

Glass added, "I am grateful to Paul and [Warner] for this opportunity, and to Ron for his years of training and mentorship."
