With the end of the year approaching, a couple of companies have decided to get their compliance house in order.
That was bad news for attorney Christina Hall, LinkedIn's head of human resources, who resigned apparently under pressure over a compliance issue, but good news for attorney Isabelle Gold, who was promoted to chief compliance officer at Apollo Investment Corp., effective Jan. 1.
New York-based Apollo announced Gold's move in a Dec. 4 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Gold was not available for comment Friday.
The Apollo filing said Gold joined a company affiliate, Apollo Global Management Inc., in 2016 as the senior compliance officer for its credit platform.
Prior to joining Apollo, she was counsel in the litigation group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. At Akin Gump, she represented investment management firms and individuals in relation to civil litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings.
Gold earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
She replaces attorney Cindy Michel, who resigned after nearly 13 years with the company, according to a Sept. 30 filing with the SEC. Michel had served as Apollo's chief compliance officer since 2014.
At LinkedIn, based in Mountain View, California, the company declined to discuss what compliance issues were involved in Hall's departure. Hall could not be reached for comment.
General Counsel Blake Lawit forwarded a message from Corporate Counsel to Nicole Leverich, vice president for communications at LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft Corp.
Leverich replied with this statement: "Christina Hall, global head of talent, has resigned from LinkedIn. We are grateful for Christina's contributions over her six years with LinkedIn.
"Nina McQueen will lead our global talent organization on an interim basis while we conduct an internal and external search for a replacement."
Hall listed her title as senior vice president and chief people officer, on her LinkedIn profile. She had held that position for just over a year. She previously worked in the compensation and other departments at Facebook Inc. and Intuit Inc.
Prior to that, she was an associate at Latham & Watkins for 18 months and at Morgan Lewis & Bockius for 15 months.
