The former general counsel of the United Services Automobile Association has been named the senior vice president and general counsel of the energy utility Consolidated Edison Company of New York.

Deneen Donnley began her role as general counsel and senior vice president Jan. 22. She is based in the company's offices in New York City. She replaces longtime general counsel Elizabeth Moore, who retired from the company after serving as general counsel for 10 years.

Donnley was not immediately available for comment Wednesday.

"Deneen brings a wealth of experience as a general counsel and as a thought-leading attorney, helping to manage dynamic businesses through a period of fast-paced marketplace change," John McAvoy, CEO and chairman of Con Edison, said in the press release. "The challenges Con Edison faces as we move to a renewable, low-carbon energy future where customer needs drive our strategic actions will leverage off her strengths and resourcefulness. Her steadfast community involvement also reflects our corporate values and our concern with the well-being of the communities we serve."

Most recently, Donnley served as the executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of USAA in San Antonio. She has also served in general counsel positions at USAA Bank and ING Direct. Donnley previously served as an associate at Pepper Hamilton and as a staff attorney at the Federal Reserve Board. Donnley graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 1992.

Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison Inc., which is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the country with approximately $12 billion in annual revenues and $56 billion in assets. Con Edison delivers electricity, natural gas and steam to 3.5 million customers in New York City and Westchester County, New York.
