Applause App Quality Inc., a global firm that crowdtests software for some of the world's most well-known companies, including Facebook, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, PayPal and Uber, has appointed Susie Glick Gilfix as general counsel and vice president.
Gilfix, an experienced in-house counsel in the tech industry, joined Applause earlier this month as the firm's first-ever top lawyer. She oversees the company's worldwide legal functions and also serves as a partner to the company's executive team. She is based at Applause's global headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts, near Boston. The firm has a European headquarters in Berlin.
"It's a privilege to join Applause's team and bring my leadership experience and solutions-focused approach to managing the legal function," Gilfix said in a statement Monday. "As the worldwide leader in digital quality and crowdsourced testing, Applause is at the cutting edge of innovation to help our clients ensure their customers get exceptional digital experiences. I'm thrilled to join this talented, smart and innovative team."
Gilfix most recently served as an associate general counsel at cloud-based software firm Pivotal Software Inc. She had been with Pivotal since its launch in 2013 and managed the firm's global commercial legal team.
While at Pivotal, Gilfix was part of a team that created processes for complying with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation. She also helped the company navigate its initial public offering in 2018.
Gilfix states on her LinkedIn profile that she was a "key contributor to significant corporate matters including M&A transactions, internal investigations, anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance training and strategic partner relationships."
Her departure from Pivotal follows VMware Inc.'s $2.7 billion acquisition of the company. The deal was announced in August and finalized in December.
Gilfix began her legal career in 1991 as a litigation associate at Boston's Bingham Dana & Gould and went on to serve as an assistant attorney general in the civil rights division of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.
She founded a legal consulting practice in 2001 and served as the legal counsel and human resources manager for sports franchise startup Velocity Sports Performance from 2003 to 2006, when she joined EMC Corp. as a senior commercial law counsel.
She left EMC and joined Pivotal in 2013. Three years later, EMC and Dell Technologies Inc. merged in a $67 billion deal.
Gilfix is a graduate of Harvard University and the Boston University School of Law.
