Minority Corporate Counsel Association Adds 4 Board Members
In-house leaders from Kelly Services, VMware, Microsoft and Discover have been named to the bar association's board of directors.

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association announced this week that in-house leaders from Kelly Services Inc., VMware Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Discover Financial Services Inc. have been named to its board of directors.
The Washington, D.C.-based organization's 19-member board of directors now includes:
- Wanji Walcott, executive vice president, chief legal officer and general counsel at Discover;
- Tom Robertson, corporate vice president and deputy general counsel at Microsoft;
- Amy Fliegelman Olli, senior vice president and general counsel at VMware; and
- Hannah Lim-Johnson, senior vice president and chief legal officer at Kelly Services.
In a statement to Corporate Counsel, Lim-Johnson said she looks forward to participating on the board while diversity and inclusion are becoming a priority in the legal industry.
"It's a privilege to join the board at such a pivotal time in the history of the association, and I look forward to digging into the important work ahead," Lim-Johnson said.
Walcott noted in a statement to Corporate Counsel that she is honored to join the board.
"The mission of the association complements my work at Discover, which is committed to having workplace that fosters respect and acceptance," Walcott said.
Robertson and Olli did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Friday.
"Their combined experience will advance MCCA's efforts to drive fundamental changes in corporate legal departments and outside law firms to ensure the success of underrepresented lawyers," said Stuart Alderoty, chairman of the board and general counsel of Ripple. "I look forward to working with them to continue our progress of changing the face of the legal industry."
The MCCA now has 19 members of the board of directors. The members of the board are high-ranking in-house legal attorneys from corporations including The Hershey Co., General Motors Co., Intel Corp. and United Services Automobile Association help make up the MCCA board of directors.
"We are thrilled to have Hannah, Amy, Tom and Wanji join as Directors of the MCCA Board at this critical time as we push for more sustainable changes in our work culture, processes and structures to drive progress," said Jean Lee, president and CEO of MCCA, said in the announcement.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
