The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) Vegas Institute is the latest public event to be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. An email signed by CLOC president Mary O'Carroll went out to members Monday afternoon officially canceling the conference, which was scheduled to be held from May 12-14 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

"This was not an easy decision to make and we are grateful to our CLOC community for having patience with us as we grappled with the rapidly-evolving situation. The Institute is as much yours as it is ours, and it is important to us that we move forward together," O'Carroll said in the email.

The question of whether CLOC will attempt to resuscitate the conference in one form or another later in 2020 appears to be open. In her letter, O'Carroll said that CLOC is open to exploring all possible alternatives. "We are currently evaluating various options to enable us to continue to bring our exceptional educational content to the community this year," O'Carroll said.

Per the letter, CLOC is still working on next steps for registrants and sponsors.

According to the CLOC website, the 2020 conference was expected to include an address from keynote speaker Erik Wahl, an "artist and consultant on the creative process" and author of the book "The Spark and the Grind." Per the website, Wahl's keynote message revolves around how to "systematically embrace innovation and risk."

Among the panels scheduled was "Being an Effective Change Leader" a session presented by the Institute for the Future of Law Practice, as well as variety of other programming funneled under headings such as Legal Ops 101, Practice Management and Growth and Development.
