CLOC Plans to Host Webinars Instead of 2020 Vegas Institute
"What's important to us is that we were working on putting out content for the institute because the industry changes so rapidly," Mary O'Carroll, president of CLOC and director of legal operations, technology and strategy at Google, said. The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium will be hosting a weekly webinar series beginning in May instead of its annual conference, the organization announced Thursday.
Earlier this month, the legal operations organization had canceled the CLOC 2020 Vegas Institute scheduled for May. Mary O'Carroll, president of CLOC and director of legal operations, technology and strategy at Google, said in an interview that those who planned on going were understanding of the cancellation considering the new coronavirus outbreak.
O'Carroll said the organization wanted to find a way to deliver the legal operations educational content that CLOC is known for.
"What's important to us is that we were working on putting out content for the institute because the industry changes so rapidly," O'Carroll said. "We wanted to find a way to deliver that to our members and to the community."
O'Carroll said there will be 13 different webinars that CLOC plans on releasing once a week. The webinars will largely include information from what would have been the last day of the institute.
"Those were sessions led by in-house legal operations professionals and are directed to in-house legal operations professionals," O'Carroll said.
The sessions that will be made into webinars include "Legal Ops Organizational Strategy and Value Components," "Transform Your Corporate Legal Department: A 3-Year Maturity Plan" and "How to Embrace Change, One Mind at a Time."
She said the organization is also looking at creating webinars for a few of the plenary sessions.
Some of the sessions will be made available only to members and law firm participants, but others will be made available to the public, O'Carroll said. She also said CLOC is currently working on the CLOC 2021 Vegas Institute, which will take place from May 18 to 20, 2021.
