Rotisserie chain Boston Market Corp. promoted its general counsel and chief administrative officer Randy Miller to president, the highest executive role after the company's acquisition by another restaurant operator last month.
His appointment comes a week after United Airlines Inc. also promoted its chief administrative officer and former general counsel Brett Hart to president.
Miller, a 26-year Boston Market veteran, most recently oversaw the legal team as the top lawyer. In his new role as president, he will work closely with Engage Brands LLC of the Rohan Group of Companies, which acquired the Golden, Colorado-based Boston Market in late April from private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc.
"It's an exciting and interesting time to be a part of Boston Market, as we continue to innovate our guest experience in the challenging environment we are in, make culinary enhancements and improve brand reach and relevance to serve our guests however, and wherever, they wish to access our food," Miller said in a statement.
M'Lou Bahlinger, who was associate general counsel and vice president, will take over as general counsel. This year marks her 25th year at Boston Market, according to her LinkedIn profile.
A spokesperson said Val DiGiorgio will be added as corporate counsel. A lawyer of the same name, who was the former Republican Party of Pennsylvania leader, stepped down in the wake of a sexting scandal and also left Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young where he was partner last year. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported during last month's Boston Market sale that DiGiorgio is the lawyer of Jignesh "Jay" Pandya, the owner of the Rohan Group of Companies.
In February, Eric Wyatt was named Boston Market CEO to succeed Frances Allen, who left to become CEO at burger chain Checkers & Rally's Restaurants Inc. based in Tampa, Florida. Now with the news of Miller's promotion, Wyatt is transitioning back to the chief operating officer role he held before being named CEO. Miller had become a key player in the "Office of the CEO" that included chief financial officer Caryn Doyle and was overseen by Wyatt.
Miller joined Boston Market in 1994, first serving as senior vice president and associate general counsel for six years, according to his LinkedIn profile, before becoming general counsel.
Prior to Boston Market, Miller spent seven years as an associate at Chicago-based law firm Rudnick & Wolfe, now a part of DLA Piper. He is a graduate of Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
