Meredith Fuchs, a former top lawyer for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and chief counsel for Capital One Financial Corp., has joined Plaid as general counsel of the San Francisco-based fintech firm, which Visa Inc. is acquiring for more than $5 billion.

Fuchs succeeds Benjamin Lee, who left Plaid last year and took over as general counsel for Reddit Inc. Plaid announced Fuchs' appointment Thursday. She started her new job earlier this month and is based in Bethesda, Maryland.
