New general counsel are outearning in-house veterans, according to executive compensation analysis firm Equilar Inc.’s latest General Counsel Pay Trends study.

The median pay last year for GCs who had been with a company for a decade or less was more than $2.9 million. But after the 10-year anniversary, GC pay began to decline.
