Joel Stern, the CEO of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms in Chicago, posted a story on his LinkedIn profile in July discussing the lack of diversity and inclusion efforts in bankruptcy law.

The post was based on a message he received from a Hispanic female attorney who says that many Hispanic and Black bankruptcy attorneys lost their jobs in the Great Recession and have not returned to the practice. Stern also noted in the post that there does not appear to be much of an effort to hire diverse attorneys for that kind of work despite the apparent need for it.
