Legal departments could find themselves working some late nights this month thanks to an October visa bulletin from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services that—for now at least—shortens the green card waiting period. Basically, employment-based adjustment of status applicants would be able to file adjustments in October even if their case won’t be formally decided for some time to come.

It’s yet another immigration-related development in what has already been a busy four years for businesses attempting to track the changes enacted under the Trump administration. “They’ve changed immigration in so many ways. All of the firms such as mine, all of the legal departments have been forced to navigate a system in which it’s become more and more challenging to obtain immigration benefits,” said Devin Connolly, an attorney with Reeves Immigration Law Group.
