In July, Charlotte Edelman hit the ground running as vice president of legal at Skillz, a mobile gaming platform that is slated to go public later this year. Using her experience as a veteran mergers and acquisitions attorney at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, she is currently guiding the company through a merger with Flying Eagle Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition corporation, which will lead to Skillz going public.

New York-based Edelman, who is the sole full-time attorney in the legal department, spoke with Corporate Counsel on Thursday about why she joined Skillz, what her plans are for the legal department and taking the company public.
