The top in-house lawyers at Akron, Ohio-based FirstEnergy Corp. have been let go, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, amid an FBI investigation into executives of the company bribing Ohio state Rep. Larry Householder on a bailout bill for two nuclear plants.

Robert Reffner, chief legal officer, and Ebony Yeboah-Amankwah, general counsel and chief ethics officer, were “separated” from the company effective Sunday, according to the filing. It is unclear from the filing whether they are included in the government’s investigation.
