Cummins Inc. has tapped a former U.S. Department of Commerce official to serve as the global engine maker’s next top lawyer. 

Nicole Lamb-Hale will take over as general counsel at the Columbus, Indiana-based company in May. She succeeds Sharon Barner, who is stepping up to the chief administrative officer role after having served as Cummins’ GC since 2012.
