If Andy Lee, the former general counsel of the New York Jets, gets a phone call from a client while in the middle of another one, he will hit a button to send an automated text message that says “on a call, will call you back.”

Lee, who now serves as a partner at Foley & Lardner in New York, said he has always preferred to communicate with internal clients, outside counsel and now in-house counsel via email. However, he has sent an urgent text to his colleagues.
