Do you want more control over your personal financial information? Do you want your financial history to be more than your credit score? So does Petal Card Inc., a startup credit card company based in New York. The company, has just hired former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau senior official Elizabeth “Eli” Corbett as general counsel and chief compliance officer, to further the company’s aims, starting with regulators in Washington, D.C.

Corbett aims to leverage her nearly six years of experience at the CFPB to help Petal continue to push for regulations that would give its customers more control over their personal financial data. In extending credit, Petal uses a broader set of underwriting factors than traditional banks, which generally rely largely on an applicant’s FICO store.
