In less than three months, Wells Fargo & Co. lost at least three senior members of the bank’s legal department, along with a fourth lawyer who served in a nonlegal capacity. All four have returned to private practice.

The string of in-house departures at Wells Fargo could make life a bit more difficult for the bank’s new chief lawyer, Ellen Patterson, who took over the legal department last year.
