Craig Glidden, General Motors Co. general counsel and executive vice president, has taken on the added responsibility of overseeing the automaker’s global public policy issues as the Detroit-based firm floors the pedal on its plans to go all-in on electric vehicles.

Glidden’s new role, effective June 1, comes as GM transitions to making all-electric light-duty vehicles in the U.S. by 2035, and becoming a carbon-neutral company by 2040. He’s also leading the effort to hire a new senior executive in charge of global public policy who will report to him.
