Horizon scanning – a much-vaunted topic – but also a major source of missed value creation and empty promise of relationship between legal provider and General Counsel.

Horizon scanning has fascinated me throughout my career, as a lawyer, management consultant, and in my executive and non-executive leadership roles.  Why?  Not to predict the future, nor for elusory comfort and security, as Gnarls Barkly poetically put it:
