Legal operations personnel worried about their volatility in spending are in good company, a new report suggests. Many in-house law departments are seeing wild fluctuations year over year, and the pandemic exacerbated that tendency.

The report, this quarter’s LegalVIEW Insights by Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions, found that 29% of corporate legal departments saw spending change by 90% or more in the last five years, either increasing or decreasing. Nearly 10% of those reported differences of three times or even more.
