Outside counsel are an extension of your legal department and company. For this to work as it should and be a truly successful partnership, they should be there for you and have your back just as if they were part of your legal department. This calls for prompt reactions and high-quality responses. Non-responsiveness or half-heated support are never unacceptable when you reach out for help. When it comes to setbacks or unforeseen problems, outside counsel must never embarrass you. What is one of the top universal GC grievances? To be kept in the dark on a potential problem and then blindsided. In short, the job of outside counsel is to have your back, support the business and enhance your reputation.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.
