Jackson Financial Inc. has tapped Fidelity Investments’ chief compliance officer to serve as the firm’s new general counsel as it prepares to separate from Prudential and go public.

Carrie Chelko, a financial industry in-house veteran, will begin her new role as executive vice president at Jackson on Aug. 30. She is slated to take over as chief lawyer and secretary when the Lansing, Michigan-based firm completes its demerger with Prudential. The split is expected to be finalized Sept. 13.
